19 Local Breweries in Oklahoma City to Check Out

Hey, y’all! Here with an extensive list of all of the breweries in OKC. Checking out local breweries is one of my favorite things to do in Oklahoma City. You don’t have to go far to find one of the 19 (and counting) local taprooms in OKC. They all have different vibes and different brews so there’s something for everyone.

American Solera

Angry Scotsman

Located in a prime spot downtown, Angry Scotsman has some of the best views of any taproom in OKC. They have a great outdoor area to enjoy our beautiful (and unpredictable) Oklahoma weather. 

Anthem Brewing

Down the road from Angry Scotsman, you’ll find Anthem Brewing. This brewery is one of OKC’s original craft breweries and has a rotating list of a variety of beer styles. 

COOP Ale Works

COOP is one of the most widely-distributed breweries from OKC, so you may have seen some of their beers in your local stores. DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) is one of their classics, along with their F5 IPA.

Core4 Brewing

Another brewery located in the downtown area, Core4 Brewing is tucked away next to The Study (a wine-tasting room) and OK Cider (a cider brewery) so let’s just say you can do a bit of an alcohol crawl if you’d like. Their taproom is very cozy, filled with local art, board games, and TVs to watch all the exciting sporting events. They have a really nice patio where they have live music periodically, and their beer is solid. 

Cross Timbers Brewing Co.

This brewery is in one of my fave locations. It’s nestled next to an antique store (warehouse-size) called Dead People’s Stuff which is a must-see in OKC. There’s also a cat café and BBQ restaurant in the same strip of businesses. Grab a brew on their patio after you’ve explored all the cool antiques, pet all the kitties, and stuffed yourself with delicious ‘cue.

Equity Brewing Company

Women and minority-owned, Equity is one of the only breweries in Norman, OK, located just a few miles from the University of Oklahoma’s campus. Not only does Equity have great beer, but they also have a great environment and really delicious food.

Fair-Weather Friend

Yes, this is a beer blog, but I’ve gotta talk about pizza for a sec. If you have a problem with pizza, I don’t want you here anyway. Fair-Weather Friend serves wood-fired pizza made in-house and it is SO GOOD. FWF is located in an industrial area with really cool views of the city and really cool artwork on the outside of their building (very instagrammable).

Frenzy Brewing Company

Located in a more suburban area, Frenzy Brewing set up shop in one of the historic buildings in Downtown Edmond. Just picture “industrial” vibes. They have really delicious signature beers (Lake Life is my absolute fave) and they always have new things brewing (get it…brewing…). They also do your traditional taproom events like live music and trivia. 

Lively Beerworks

If you’re the type that browses the beer (or wine) aisle looking for something with a nice label, you may recognize Lively’s signature minimalist label. Like their label, their beer is no-nonsense. They keep things simple with ingredients that blend together to make delicious beer. No fancy exotic fruits or overpowering notes of this or that. Just good beer. 

MadHopper Brewing

Brand. Spanking. New (as I’m writing this – June 2023). This brewery is part of a revitalization of one of OKC’s historic districts, the Britton District. 

OK Cider

If you’re not a huge fan of hops, don’t worry – OKC has a taproom that brews and serves ciders. The ciders are gluten-free, fruit-based, and DELISH.

Prairie Artisan Ales

One of the most iconic breweries in Oklahoma City, Prairie Artisan Ales has been distributing their beer all over the country. They are known to most for their “Prairie Bomb” which is a stout with a pretty high alcohol content so people love that. I am partial to their variety of sour styles because they are always changing things up and they are all AMAZING. Here’s their website if you want to check out their current beers on tap. 

Roughtail Brewing Co.

This brewery is off the beaten path a bit, but if you’re a local, you know that it only takes 20 minutes to get from one place to another in OKC. The great thing about this brewery’s location is it has SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES. They have a huge space to make their beer, meaning they can make more small-batch rotators than a lot of other breweries. They have a great patio, an in-house chef, and just generally good vibes. 

Skydance Brewing Co.

This native-owned brewery is located in Automobile Alley, within walking distance from a ton of restaurants, shops, and other breweries. They display native art on their walls to support local artists, they bring in food trucks multiple times a week, and they have live music each week as well. They have an all-weather patio with heaters for the cooler temps and fans when it’s a bit warmer. They have a great rotation of classic beer styles but are always working on new flavors.

Stonecloud Brewing Company

Stonecloud is (what I would call) an OKC staple. It’s one of the smaller taprooms, but what they lack in space, they make up for in FLAVOR. They are always coming up with unique combinations of ingredients, and the beer names are usually pretty funny (Chug Norris – really?).

The Big Friendly

What started out as a bus turned into a brewery, The Big Friendly’s taproom is located in the new Wheeler District. Their taproom is soooo clean and modern and just a fresh feeling (does that even make sense?). Their beer is HIGHLY drinkable. Like, you will take a sip and look down and realize you chugged the entire beer. They don’t need fancy brewing techniques to make good, solid beer. And they take their bus out and serve beer at events so that’s super fun. 

Twisted Spike

Another brewery located in the Automobile Alley District, Twisted Spike offers one of the largest varieties of beer in the city. If you dig the industrial vibes, their brewery resides in an old warehouse and uses shipping containers as beer storage. 

Vanessa House Beer Company

This one’s for the nerds. Vanessa House is located near the Automobile Alley/Midtown area and their taproom has a literal mural of superheroes. There are also vintage console games so that’s pretty cool. They host Dungeons and Dragons boot camps so I don’t need to explain the nerd comment further.

That’s a lot of beer. Each brewery brings its own unique twist to its taproom and its beers so you really should try to hit each one if you’re a true beer lover. If you want my top recs, check out my Favorite Breweries in OKC.
