3 Places in Oklahoma City That Make You Feel Like You’re in the Barbie Movie
Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, you’ve seen that the Barbie Movie is the talk of the town. As someone who loved Barbies as a kid and loves fun marketing tactics, I have been eating up all the Barbie coverage lately. So I decided to put together a list of all the places in OKC that make you feel like you’ve stepped inside the Barbie Universe. So let’s get to it!
Flamingo Tiki Room
The building is entirely painted hot pink on the outside, so leaving it off this list would have been illegal. The inside is super moody, with forest green walls and velvet curtains. Retro seating, island-themed videos on the TV, and their menu of tiki cocktails really set the entire scene for a great experience.
They commission food from their neighbor, OSO on the Paseo, as the Flamingo Tiki Room does not have a kitchen. I am not lying to you when I say I have never had food from a bar made with such fresh ingredients. I had the ahi tuna tostadas and I have dreams about them now. Fresh ahi tuna, topped with a cold seaweed salad, and slices of avocado, drizzled with the perfect amount of spicy mayo on a crispy tostada shell – STOP IT. I also had a taste of their brisket burnt ends tacos with a Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce.
I had 2 different cocktails (I don’t remember the names of them, but they were both delicious). They have an extensive tiki cocktail list, a list of rums, plus beer & wine for those that don’t want to feel like they are on a beach with no responsibilities (booooooo).
American Solera
If you’ve checked out any of my other blogs, you may have seen me mention American Solera before. It is one of my favorite breweries in OKC because their beer is delicious, but also their **vibe** is what I want in my house. Tile walls, pink floors, and bright, floral wallpaper on the ceiling. Say less.
While they didn’t have any pink beer the last time I was there, I still felt like I was in Barbie’s Dream House.
Common Dear
Common Dear may not be a pink paradise like the others on my list, but it is one of the most colorful shops in Oklahoma City. Their exterior is painted in a bright rainbow palette, with the inside somehow displaying even more color. I have always liked this shop because they have some of the best gift items in OKC, and honestly, it feels so inclusive and inviting when you step inside.
Not only does their decor scream “Come on Barbie, Let’s go party”, but they also have a few Barbie products, like the mug you see below (which I purchased, of course. gotta support small businesses 🙂 )
Ok, now I have to burst your bubble. We are not, in fact, in the Barbie Universe. This is just a blog. And you still have responsibilities. #backtoreality
